สำนวน "ทำแทน" ลองดูตัวอย่างประโยค เลือกได้ตามใจชอบ
* "Substitute for" ---> act in place of.
Ex: He "substituted for" the worker who was ill.
Ex: He works in place of Mr. Smith who is on leave.
* "pitch hit" ---> act in place of.
Ex: I have a favor to ask. I’m supposed to help entertain the guests at the reception this afternoon, but I can’t go. Will you "pinch hit" for me?
* “Fill in (for)” ---> do my job; do my work; to do something for someone because they are suddenly unable to do it.
Ex: I have to "fill in for" the boss until he gets back from the business trip.
Ex: Will you "fill in for" me while I'm away? Just answer my phone.
* “To take up the slack“ ---> do somebody's work.
Ex: When I'm away, Mr. John "takes up the slack". He does my job.
* "Double in brass" ---->ทำงานแทนคนอื่น เพิ่มจากเดิม
Ex: When his commanding officer was on vacation, he had to double in brass and do his work too. [เมื่อท่านผู้บัญชาการของเขาไปพักผ่อน เขาต้อง ทำงานแทนท่านเพิ่มขึ้นอีก แล้วยังต้องทำงานของเขาเองด้วย]
